About Drumathon 13
Drumathon is the annual fundraising event for Visible Music College Drum Department. The event is in its 13th year and has risen in excess of $60,000 for music education due to student fundraising and the efforts of the local Memphis business community.
The idea of Drumathon is evident in its name. As a runner of a marathon challenges their minds, bodies, and even spirits to run great distances, each participating drummer of drumathon plays continuously for 24 hours, with a mere 15 minute break every 3 hours. Drummers will play along to music on their drum sets for the duration of the event along with classmates and special guests.
The goal for 2017 is to raise $8000. The money raised goes to fund scholarships for five young intercity drummers to have one years tuition at Visible Community Music School as well as fund three drum clinics across our three (Memphis, Dallas and Chicago) campuses. These clinics provide the opportunity for the Visible community to host the worlds top professional drummers for lectures and performances. Previous guests include Zoro (Lenny Kravitz), Chris Pat (Stevie Wonder, ZZ Ward), Ryan Peel (Cody Simpson), Terrance Clark (Gungor) and James Sexton.
